Rubber Reformers Pty Limited, trading as Rubber Refectory, is a tyre recycling and rubber brick manufacturing company based in Somerset West, Western Cape, South Africa. The company converts waste tyres into high-value construction materials while supporting South Africa's circular economy and green industrialisation goals.

Our mission is to convert waste tyres into valuable construction materials, reduce environmental pollution from illegally discarded tyres, create sustainable employment opportunities in the Western Cape, and support South Africa's circular economy objectives.

Vision

Our vision is to become the leading tyre recycling and rubber product manufacturer in Southern Africa, recognised for environmental stewardship, innovation, and positive social impact.

BEE Credentials & Compliance

Rubber Reformers Pty Limited is 75% Black-owned and aligned with South Africa's Broad-Based Black Economic Empowerment (B-BBEE) objectives. The project is designed to support government priorities around job creation, waste minimisation, and inclusive industrial growth.

The business adheres to relevant environmental, health and safety, and waste management regulations, and is structured to comply with Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) and the National Environmental Management: Waste Act.

Community & Social Impact

Beyond its environmental benefits, Rubber Refectory is designed as a community-focused enterprise. The facility will create approximately 60 direct jobs and more than 200 indirect jobs through tyre collection and related services, with a focus on local hiring and skills development.

Through initiatives such as the planned "Tyre Wambles" collection programme and community partnerships, the project aims to create sustainable livelihoods while cleaning up illegal tyre dumps across the Western Cape and beyond.

Management Team

Rubber Refectory is led by a multidisciplinary team with expertise across industrial chemistry, community development, cybersecurity, operations, and finance. Together they provide the technical, social, and commercial leadership required to scale a first-of-its kind tyre-to-rubber-brick facility in South Africa.

Dr. Jonathan Round

Founder & Chairman

Dr. Round is a British inventor and industrial chemist with a PhD in Industrial Chemistry. He leads the overall technical vision for Rubber Refectory, drawing on decades of experience in process engineering and innovation.

Bonita Mohamed

Managing Director

Bonita brings over 25 years of community development experience in the Western Cape. She oversees day-to-day operations, stakeholder engagement, and community partnerships.

Danyetta Fleming

Director

Danyetta is a CISSP-certified cybersecurity expert and CEO of Covenant Security Solutions. She provides governance, risk management, and international partnership guidance.

Charlene Delene

Executive

Charlene has more than 15 years of operations experience. She focuses on plant operations, logistics, and ensuring that production processes run safely and efficiently.

Tim Nhlanhla

Chief Financial Officer

Tim is an experienced Finance Director responsible for financial planning, capital allocation, and ensuring that Rubber Refectory delivers strong and transparent financial performance.
